The Bevan Avenue residences break the mold of the typical semi-detached dwelling. Paying careful attention to its surroundings, the project takes cues from the rhythm and architectural vernacular of the surrounding houses and reinterprets them in a modern way. The façade is comprised of two brick volumes that make reference to the single storey brick cladding that is typical of the area. In order to create a unique presence for each unit, one brick volume lies flat while the other is stood up on its end. A ribbon of metal accompanies the brick volumes and serves to accentuate the different character of the two residences.
Each 2,200 square foot unit features a unique layout, three bedrooms, two full and two half bathrooms and a grand double height space that is the focal point of the residence. The kitchen lies adjacent to the main living space and has been designed for flexibility. The island features a sitting area with a distinctive single waterfall countertop. The double height living space in each unit is an impressive architectural expression of the most important space in the home. It also creates an important visual link with the second floor of the home. While one master bedroom features a second floor terrace, both feature walk-through closets and modern ensuites with glass shower partitions.
Borrowing from its surroundings, the Bevan Avenue residences are a cohesive modern insertion into an existing and thriving urban neighborhood. The open ground floor plan combined with the impressive double height spaces create a striking and unique living environment. Modern, yet respectful. Open, yet functional. The Bevan Avenue Residences are truly a unique and innovatively designed semi-detached dwelling.
